Emotion Motion

Nancy Nikkal, a visual artist and member of the Society of Layerists, created these three pieces especially for JourneySpark Consulting. She's also Matt's mom, so these works have a special meaning for both of them!

This piece is an original collage with acrylic and painted papers (12x12 inches, 2023). The image represents the layered nature of customer experience. Shapes and colors that are seemingly unrelated blend on the canvas to create one cohesive image. Remove one component, and the picture appears incomplete.

Just as in this painting, If your CX journey design focuses only the parts instead of how they fit together, you won't have the same emotional impact for your customers along their journey.

This piece is an original collage with acrylic and painted papers (12x16 inches, 2023). The image also represents a deconstructed customer journey. Does it make you think of the steps along the journey? Does it make you think about how there are multiple steps along distinct paths you can choose?

Like in our logo, the use of blue and orange have meaning. Orange is often associated with emotion, optimism and originality, while blue connotes purpose, trust and loyalty.

This piece is an original collage with acrylic on a wood panel (12x12 inches, 2023). This third work in the Emotion Motion series done for JourneySpark Consulting evokes signposts along the customer journey. Do the shapes make you think about how there are different peaks and valleys along the journey?

Does the abstract nature of this deconstructed journey make you think about how we need to delve into the unconscious mind to understand the customer’s mental models? Do the colors make you think about the emotional content of these moments that matter?

Nancy also helped out on the logo. To learn more about the thinking that went into it, check out this blog
